A gay person who wants to keep their true sexual orientation a secret.

◆Term of endearment
A word or phrase expressing love or affection.
She whispered sweet terms of endearment as she gently kissed me.

◆Carbon copy
A person or thing identical or very similar to another.
She is a carbon copy of her mother, in looks and personality.

A hidden reason.
I can’t prove it, but I believe the owner of the bank has an ulterior motive for helping us.

Related to or involves sexual arouse between people of the same sex.

In good physical shape with well-developed muscles.

Wildly unreasonable, illogical, inappropriate, or silly in a humorous way.
Donald Trump makes a lot of absurd statements.

◆Quote-Unquote
A way of verbally citing a particular phrase or adding emphasis to a questionable term.
She said she couldn’t come, because she was quote-unquote ‘busy.’

◆Dogged by
Something that causes a person or group worry, embarrassment, or concern, generally about their reputation or essential character.
The church has been dogged by accusations that they abused members.

◆(To be) in the closet
A person who is hiding that they are gay.
Many men who are in the closet won’t come out because they worry their families won’t accept their sexual preference.
自分が同性愛者であることを隠している人。
同性愛者の男性は、家族が自分の性的嗜好を受け入れてくれないのではと懸念し、カミングアウトしない。
◆If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
To avoid attempting to correct, fix, or improve what is already sufficient or working.
I was thinking about upgrading to Windows 11, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
すでに十分であったり、機能しているものを正したり、直したり、改善しようとしたりすることを避けること。
Windows11にアップグレードしようかと思ったけど、ヘタにいじらなくてもOKかな。
◆Cut the chatter
Shut up.
We better cut the chatter or someone is gonna hear us sneaking around.
黙れ。
おしゃべりをやめないと、誰かにこそついているのを聞かれちゃうよ。
