- (How do you feel about) what Japan have just done here tonight?
We on fire today, second … especially in second half and especially first 10 minutes we are very good and we scored two goals. It was perfect way.
- I mean to come to this world cup and to beat Germany, to beat Spain, to finish top of this group; did anybody really believe that was possible 10 days ago?
I don’t know what they think from the other… other guys, but we believe it. We have player staff, coaching staff, everyone believe it. I think we deserve it and it does not miracle and we play very good.
- And the way you had to play because Spain had so much of the ball. You had to work so hard defensively to keep the shape so tight. It took incredible dedication.
Yeah, it’s because we knew that Spain had quality. They… if they have the ball they keep crazy for the ball position. So, we knew it. So we train a lot this three days and um… I think we defense good, especially second half.
- What was the atmosphere like in that dressing room there? What are the players saying?
You mean before the game?
- No, no. Now you’ve done it!
I, I didn’t go back. I have to see now.
- What changed at halftime?
Halftime? Yeah, we… we didn’t give up. We pushed each other. We pushed… we speak a lot about tactic-wise, also mentality-wise. So it was very important time; 10 minutes, then… yeah… as I said, the second half was perfect.
- And in previous World Cups, Japan have reached the round of 16, you’ve never gone to the quarterfinals. Now, just Croatia stand between you and history. What are your thoughts now? How far can you go?
Yeah. That’s… that’s our goal. Before already we speak to the media. We have to go to the top eight. So that’s our goal. So we have to give everything for next game. If we win, it will be crazy for the Japan.
