Maybe I should just change my last name to Ohtani and let everyone think that I’m his new wife.
Right. He is… He has lots of titles; MVP, gazillionaire, superstar, but husband had eluded him until now.
And he made the announcement, where else, but on social media. Just a few hours ago he posted this on Instagram and his Instagram post has already gotten more than 2.4 million likes, more than 60,000 comments, and the announcement is dominating the news in his native Japan.

Well, you know, I was gonna say my husband would probably have a problem with that but I think he loves the Dodgers more than me, so maybe he would be ok with it. I don’t know.
- Congrats on getting married.

- When did that happen and sort of what can you tell us about, you know, your new wife?
Yeah, she is a Japanese woman and I don’t really feel comfortable talking about when I got married; the exact date and stuff. But she’s a normal Japanese woman.
- How long have you guys known each other? Congrats, by the way. How long have guys known each other?
I don’t remember the exact date, but should be around 3 or 4 years.
- Did that, just relationship, at all factor into your free agency decision? Wanting to stay in Southern California? Did that have, like, any bearing just as you were making your your baseball decision this off season?
That had absolutely nothing to do with the free agency. And she has a great understating of my profession. And she’s willing to be wherever I wanna play at. And ultimately it was up to me. So, it had nothing to do with my decision.
