It’s even more difficult when your native language has adopted an English word and then uses it in a very unnatural way. It lulls the speaker into believing they’re speaking great English, but you’re not. Japanese is full of these unnatural English word choices.

言語を勉強するうえで、もっとも難しいものの一つに、自然な単語の選択があげられます。
特に、和製英語には、英語圏の人からすると不自然な使われ方をしているものもあるのですが、それにひっぱられて英語でいってしまいがちなので、なかなか気づきにくいところではあります。
いい感じに英語を話しているのでは？と錯覚してしまうと危険です。日本語にはこのような英語圏の人からすると不自然な和製英語がたくさんありますし、また似たような意味を持つ英単語がたくさん存在します。
