- When did you find out John had died?
Just… Um, the morning. In the morning. Early in the morning.
Oh, I remember getting a phone call from you in 1981. I was sitting at home and my wife, Val, answered the phone.
She said, “Carl, he says he’s Paul McCartney.”
You said, um, “What you doin’, boy?”
You said, “Can you come down to Montserrat?”
I said, “Well if I knew where it was at, it would help.”
And you sent me…
Somewhere in the Caribbean. Just… just head this way. We’ll find you.
Yeah. That’s right. And you sent me a ticket.
But the… the great part of that to me was eight wonderful days with you and your family.
And the night before I left, remember a little song that I wrote?
