Ippei Mizuhara, Shohei Ohtani’s longtime friend and interpreter, has been fired from his position.

- LA Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani may have been swindled out of millions of dollars by his interpreter.
Those are the allegations made… being made by Shohei Ohtani’s folks.
Um… We just got a statement from them, but I wanna show you some video of this interpreter. You’ve likely seen him. We’ve covered Shohei arrival here to Los Angeles pretty extensively. That’s him on the right in the suit holding the microphone there now.
According to the LA Times, this all came about after a federal investigation into an Orange County man revealed that he allegedly is using Otay… Shohei Ohtani’s money, funds to place bets with this illegal bookmaker.
We did reach out to Shohei Ohtani’s people and I wanna show you a statement that gave to us here. It says quote “In the course of responding to the recent media inquires, we discovered that Shohei has been the victim of a massive theft and we are turning the matter over to the authorities.”
Multiple sources tell ESPN that Ippei Mizuhara, the longtime friend and interpreter for Ohtani, incurred gambling debt and now there are questions surrounding $4.5 million in a wire transfer sent from Ohtani’s bank account to a bookmaking operation.
